Rotman and Schulich are two of the top B-schools of Canada, with freakishly close rankings. So much so that Forbes and The Economist rank Schulich as #1 in Canada, while Financial Times and QS rank Rotman #1 in Canada.

Rotman School of Management

Rotman School of Management is a graduate business school and a part of the University of Toronto. It was established in 1901 by Joseph Rotman and has since become a pioneer in business education. Schulich School of Business

The Schulich School of Business is the business school of York University, situated in Toronto, Ontario. MBA programs

A wide range of MBAs are offered by the Rotman School of Business in areas like Business Design, Healthcare, Behavioral Economics, Finance, Consulting, Leadership, Life Sciences, etc. The school has an option for everyone, be it full-time students, working professionals or students who require distance education. Besides the flagship two-year full-time MBA, there is a morning and evening MBA program, one-year executive and a Back to Campus or Back to Work initiative for women to run a business.

The Schulich School of Business offers full-time as well as part-time MBA programs to accommodate the different needs of students. Schulich offers a wide range of programs to choose from such as, MBA in Business Analytics, Juris Doctors, Business Administration, Social Sector Management, Global Retail Management, etc. The school offers flexible study options for the students to switch between full-time and part-time enrolment, the choice between two campuses and even a possibility of advanced standing, which allows students to accelerate their MBA program to be completed within eight months.

Entry Requirements

The basic requirements that are common to both Rotman School of Business and Schulich School of Business are as follows:

  1. Bachelor’s degree certificate or an equivalent.
  2. GMAT or GRE score that is acceptable on all measures.
  3. A minimum 2-years of full-time work experience post-degree is mandatory.
  4. English language proficiency test score if studies are not completed using English language as medium. The minimum score required is:
    TOEFL – 100, IELTS 7.0
  5. Transcript copies from the University.

In the case of Rotman School of Business, the requirements also include a minimum GPA of 3.0, essay, video interviews and professional references.

Schulich’s online application needs two written essays (one of which is timed), two videos and two professional references.

Both the schools offer an early-round of applications and four rounds of application throughout an academic year for students to apply based on their convenience.

Duration of Programs and Fees

The program duration might vary from nine months to up to 24 months, depending on the type of program you select. The executive MBA program can be completed within a year, while an Executive MBA Global would require 24 months.

The tuition fees in case of Rotman starts from 20,680 CAD and other expenses include accommodation, food, personal expenses, and public transportation, utilities and health insurance which can add up to be another 20,000 to 24,000 CAD.

In case of Schulich, the full-time tuition per term for international students is up to $26,722 and the living expenses for a four-month period including rent on campus, food, personal expenses and health insurance is around $8700.

There are also a number of highly competitive scholarships offered by both the schools for students to fund their MBA programs.

Rotman School of Business:

  • In 2018, 90% of full-time MBA students were placed.
  • The expected salary for a full-time MBA graduate is 99,575 CAD.

Schulich School of Business:

  • The average salary of a MBA graduate is up to $93,100.
  • Within three months of graduation, 89% of students were hired.
  • 155 companies hired the MBA/IMBA students from Schulich.
