The British Council has announced a new set of scholarships for students from across India for the academic year 2022-23. The scholarships will be given across various fields to students pursuing their postgraduate studies.

The British Council is the United Kingdom’s international organization responsible for educational opportunities and maintaining cultural relations. The council partnered with 16 universities across the UK and announced the scholarships in collaboration with the UK government’s GREAT Britain Campaign. A total of 20 GREAT Scholarships for Indian students will be awarded in a wide variety of subjects like finance, business, entrepreneurship, marketing, psychology, humanities, music and human resources.

A minimum of £10,000 will be awarded under each scholarship. The amount is directed towards the tuition fees for a one-year postgraduate course. The scholarships come at the right time–when more and more Indian students are moving abroad for their postgraduate studies and better work opportunities. Additionally, six fully-funded scholarships for English teachers from India have also been announced by the British Council. Three of these scholarships are being offered for a face-to-face or full-time MA programme at the University of Leeds. The remaining three scholarships are available for teachers wishing to pursue online or part-time MSc programmes offered by the University of Stirling. The online programme includes a fully-funded residential visit of two weeks to the university. English teachers working with or in the primary or secondary government schools in India can apply for these scholarships and can study at any of the two listed UK universities for postgraduate study of English language teaching.

Besides the postgraduate scholarships, an additional seven GREAT scholarships are also available for programs in Justice and Law. Indian students who wish to study subjects related to human rights, criminal or commercial law in the UK can apply for these scholarships.
