You can start by choosing the course and university you wish to study in Australia. Check for the academic and English language entry requirements and make a note of important deadlines.

If you meet the entry requirements of the course, you can easily download the application form from the official website and get the details of the documentation you need to provide.

The university may take a few weeks (or more, in the case of postgraduate applications) to process your submitted application. If your application is accepted, you get an offer letter along with an acceptance form.

Before accepting the offer read the conditions of the offer letter carefully. You are further required to meet the conditions, pay tuition fees (for specific programs) post which you receive your Confirmation of Enrolment.

Now you can apply for a student visa, organise your insurance, accommodation and prepare for departure.

Admission requirements in Australia differ from university to university. Here is a standard list of requirements to study in Australia:

  • Proof of English language proficiency
  • The overseas equivalent of Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (12 years).
  • For postgraduate program – At least one degree at the undergraduate level.
  • Details of your previous academic qualifications and transcripts

    Before you can apply for a Student Visa, you must have a CoE (Confirmation of Enrolment) from any university in Australia.

    Then create an account with the Australian Immigration Authority using details such as your name, phone number, and email address.

    To apply for a student visa, make sure you have the following documents in digital formats:

  • CoE (Confirmation of Enrolment)
  • OSHC health insurance
  • Passport
  • Proof of temporary stay
  • Birth certificate
  • Bank statement as proof that you can finance your education,
  • ELP test scores
  • Paychecks or employment contracts as proof of previous employment (if any)
  • Documentation of criminal offences (if any)

  • Student visa applications can be submitted 124 days before the commencement of your course at the earliest.

    You can apply for a student subclass 500. Answer other questions of the form about your family, course, etc. Pay the visa fee and get a TRN number. Depending on where you will study and live, you will get instructions about your health check-up and/or visa interview.

    After a couple of weeks, you can check the status of your visa application to get your visa decision.

  • Bachelor Degree – $15,000 to $33,000
  • Master’s Degree - $20,000 to $37,000

    There are no qualifying exams for scholarships in Australia. However, the applicant must be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time the program starts and have a sound academic record and well-rounded application.

Under the Australian Scholarship Program, the government of Australia has provisioned several study and research scholarships for applicants in the Asia Pacific region, including India.
