Purdue University—West Lafayette is a public university that was established in 1869. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 34,920 students (fall 2020), a city setting, and a campus size of 2,468 acres. Purdue University's West Lafayette, Indiana campus serves as the main campus for the Purdue University system, which includes four other campuses throughout Indiana. Around 20% of students are involved in Greek life, and Purdue offers a diverse range of activities and organizations.

The "All American" Marching Band, six jazz bands, and two symphony orchestras are among the performance groups. Purdue's athletic teams, the Boilermakers, compete in the Division I Big Ten Conference and are well known for their dominant men's and women's basketball teams. Purdue's official mascot, the Boilermaker Special, is a railroad locomotive that is cared for and maintained by the student-run Purdue Reamer Club. Although no students are required to live on campus, approximately one-third of undergraduates do.

Purdue University is comprised of 13 schools and colleges, many of which serve both undergraduate and graduate students. Professional and graduate schools include-

All of which are highly regarded. Purdue University's prestigious School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, a part of the College of Engineering, has rightly earned the moniker "Cradle of Astronauts."

Famous alumni include legendary college basketball coach and player John Wooden, popcorn entrepreneur Orville Redenbacher, and Neil Armstrong, the first man ever to walk on the moon!

PNW is located between the skyscrapers of Chicago and the sandy shores of Lake Michigan. With a diverse, hardworking, and innovative group of students who have combined academic excellence with real-world experience. Purdue students can join over 1,000 student societies and 30 sports clubs, which include water polo, basketball, intramural sports, and more.

Gigs, exhibitions, musicals, and plays are also held on campus on a regular basis. Students from next door and students from all over the world come together at PNW to learn, grow, and connect.

West Lafayette Campus of Purdue University

Purdue's campus is in West Lafayette, near the western bank of the Wabash River, which separates the smaller city of Lafayette from the larger city of Lafayette. State Street, which runs parallel to State Road 26, separates the northern and southern parts of campus.

Academic buildings are mostly concentrated in the east and south of campus, while residence halls and intramural fields are to the west and athletic facilities are to the north. The Greater Lafayette Public Transportation Corporation (CityBus) runs eight campus loop bus routes that students, faculty, and staff can use for free with their Purdue ID. Purdue University—West Lafayette provides a variety of student services, such as nonremedial tutoring, a women's center, placement service, daycare, health service, and health insurance. Purdue University—West Lafayette also provides 24-hour foot and vehicle patrols, late-night transport/escort service, 24-hour emergency telephones, lighted pathways/sidewalks, student patrols, and controlled dormitory access (key, security card, etc.).
