Canadian universities and government with their pro-immigration stance give generous scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Affordable tuition fees, excellent job opportunities and work permit of up to three years after graduation make it easy to see why Canada is one of the most popular international study destinations of the world.

Though universities, colleges and institutes in Canada have different eligibility requirements, a general set of criteria for applying successfully is:

  • IELTS band of 6.5 or above, with no individual band less than 6
  • 70% or above in Class 12 for bachelor’s degree
  • 65% or above in undergraduate studies
  • Proof of sufficient funds
  • Medical fitness
  • No criminal record

You will need to apply directly to the universities of your choice. You must fulfill the specific course criteria for applying. As an Indian student, you would also need a study permit to study in Canada. You can apply for study permit through Student Direct Stream.

SDS is a program that expedites the process of you getting a student permit. Your study permit is usually valid for the entire length of your course, plus an extra 90 days. To apply for SDS, you should have your acceptance letter from a Designated Learning Institute(DLI), tuition fees receipt, Guaranteed Investment Certificate of CAD 10,000, acceptable IELTS scores, medical certificate of fitness and academic transcripts.

Studying in Canada is comparatively more affordable than that in other English-speaking countries. Though tuition fee varies from university to university and even between programs within the same university, generally speaking studying in Canada will cost you anywhere between CAD 20,000 to CAD 30,000 annually. Living costs including food, housing, transport, textbooks, leisure, etc. will cost you between CAD 10,000 to CAD 15,000 per year.

Studying in Canada becomes even more affordable as there is an adequate number of institutional and government scholarships available for international students. If you have decent high school or college GPAs, good language proficiency, meaningful extracurricular activities and relevant work experience, you will easily be able to get scholarships.

MBA colleges in Canada may have different entry criteria for different specializations, but largely they all require, 3 or 4-year Bachelor’s degree from recognized institution, minimum 2 year of work experience, IELTS 6.5 or above and GMAT score depending upon the program.

Universities in Canada may have different entry requirements for different Masters programs, but largely they all require, 3 to 4-year Bachelor’s degree from recognized institution, minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0, IELTS band 6.5 or above, GRE scores may be as per specific program.
