University of Southern California

When USC first opened its doors to 53 students and 10 teachers in 1880, Los Angeles was little more than a frontier town. Today, it is a world-class research university that is also the West's oldest private research university. The University Park Campus of USC is in the heart of Los Angeles' Downtown Arts and Education Corridor and is home to the USC College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences as well as several professional schools.

The USC Keck School of Medicine, the School of Pharmacy, three major teaching hospitals, and programs in Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, as well as Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy, are all on the Health Sciences Campus, which is located northeast of downtown Los Angeles. USC has centres in Marina Del Rey, Orange County, Sacramento, Washington, D.C., Catalina Island, Alhambra, and other areas throughout Southern California.

USC has additional campuses in Los Angeles, as well as locations throughout Southern California, Sacramento, Calif., and Washington, D.C. Although USC students are not required to live on campus, housing is available in the university's 40 or so residence halls and apartment buildings.
