How did you manage to achieve this score of 705 while you were working?

I have been working with Accenture Strategy and Consulting for two years now. I am an engineering undergrad from BITS Pilani. I joined Jamboree around March 2024, as my career goal was to pursue further education in strategy consulting. That is why I thought that an MBA was a good option for me. I decided that I wanted to take the exam, and that is how I started with it.

Since I was working with American clients and from home during my GMAT exam preparation, my evenings were all packed. However, I could sneak out sometime in the afternoon. Even when I have a client off, I could get some time to prepare and practice. So, I figured out what works best for me.

I heard about Jamboree through one of my cousins, who said that Jamboree should be my choice if I planned to take a GMAT preparation course.

How did you clear the GMAT in about 4 ½ months & what preparation strategy did you follow?

Managing work and GMAT prep was certainly not easy. I would like to make a confession here that sometimes in between, I was not very regular with my gmat exam preparation. This is the reason that I chose offline classes so that I could stay regular and updated.

I utilized Jamboree’s GMAT Classroom Training to develop my concepts and structure my complete preparation. The batch size I was in was decent, and I got the full attention of all the teachers who helped me fine-tune my concepts and skills. Moreover, I was always updated with the syllabus.

It is easy to derail from your preparation strategy, however, don’t look back and soldier on. Classes certainly help to stay on track and regular with your gmat prep.

What preparation strategy did you follow?

As far as my GMAT preparation course strategy was concerned, my verbal section was always strong but inconsistent. Getting to learn the strategies, I improved upon my verbal mock scores in no time. The tricky part for me was Quant & DI, on which I had to focus more. I opted for offline classes in order to maintain consistency in my GMAT exam preparation. Jamboree’s GMAT classroom training has been interactive.

Quant Preparation Strategy:

Since I come from an engineering background, I was confident in math. I quite benefited from Jamboree’s well-designed work plan, which I followed religiously. For Quant, the biggest mistake I was making was not reading the questions correctly, and because of this, I ended up making silly mistakes. My Quant trainer at jamboree not only helped me with the fundamentals but also with a post class study plan. Writing gmat mock tests and reviewing my mistakes helped me identify the pattern in my mistakes and I worked on those.

DI Preparation Strategy:

For DI, Jamboree provided me with two sources of practice material and the official mock exams. Classes were well structured with a definitive strategy to target different types of GMAT practice questions. Post classes, I started by attempting sectional tests of all subjects. As far as my daily routine was concerned, I attempted a minimum of 2 sectional tests of any subject, and then on weekends, I preferred giving mocks or three sectional tests. I faced speed issues in DI, and it took a lot of time to solve medium difficulty level questions. I then became more mindful while I was giving practice tests. Also, I got very cognizant of the timer for both the quant and DI sections because time management was one thing that I was juggling with.

After every sectional test I took, I maintained an error log. For every question I attempted incorrectly, I tried to solve it one more time before actually checking the solution, and this methodology helped me a lot.

What was the breakdown for each section?

As far as my GMAT score chart for each section goes, the details are as follows:

  • Verbal : 88

  • DI : 84

  • Quant : 83

How did you manage your GMAT preparation time while working?

Yes, work was one thing that I have always had with me during my preparation. So, I wouldn’t say that my work never interfered in my preparation. There were times when I could not give my 100% in my preparation because of my work commitments, but I tried finding my own ways to cover up all the lag I was facing.

How did you manage your test day mindset?

The best thing was that I had taken a good number of tests which worked in my favor. I was sure of one thing: I didn’t want to deviate from whatever I was doing as I was confident in that. Also, I took a day off, had a rest day, and talked to my friends without worrying much about the exam, scores, etc.

I knew that the things I hadn’t done in the last four months would not happen overnight, so I was kind of chill. This is how I kept my cool.

A piece of Advice/ Suggestions for future test takers?

The first and foremost thing I would like to mention here is that every student preparing for it must be up to date with their homework, whatever is given. Jamboree gives each student a structured study plan that is to be religiously followed. So, being regular with all your homework and everything is the best thing that you can do for yourself, and this will help you prepare better.

Secondly, one should not feel discouraged if their sectional or mock tests go bad. Jamboree offers many more tests, so try to improve yourself by consistently attempting mocks and sectional tests. Jamboree’s GMAT practice test quality is amazing in terms of content and difficulty levels, which was reflected in the real exam.

Lastly, I would like to thank Jamboree for helping me achieve the desired results.
