Studying at Trinity College Dublin

Trinity College has 24 academic schools offering undergraduate, postgraduate, short-term and online courses across all major disciplines. These are grouped within three faculties- Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities; Mathematics, Engineering and Science; and Health Sciences. The academic year at Trinity College is normally divided into three terms- from October to December, from January to March and from April to June. The college has 18000 students across all disciplines of which 24 percent are from outside Ireland, making it truly an international university.

Admission Requirements at Trinity College Dublin

Indian students need to fulfil following requirements for admission into Trinity College Dublin-

  1. Must hold at least a 2.1 honors degree from an Irish university or equivalent result from a university in another country. An Irish 2.1 is considered to be a score between 60-80% while 2.2 is considered between 50-59%. These ranges depend on the ranking of the institution.
  2. For English language proficiency, either of the following has to be presented-
    • IELTS: Grade 6.5 overall
    • TOEFL: 88 (internet-based), 570 (paper-based), 230 (computer-based)
    • Duolingo English Test: minimum overall score of 110 out of 160
  3. Two academic references or one academic and one professional reference if you have work experience.
  4. English translation of your transcripts if they are in any other language and your CV.

Postgraduate Programmes Fees at Trinity College Dublin

Trinity College Dublin charges a non-refundable application fee of €55 for postgraduate programmes. The tuition fees vary on the basis of different postgraduate programmes and can range anywhere between €11,000- €35,000.

At Trinity College, postgraduate students have the option to apply for on and off campus accommodation. International students at Trinity College who come to Dublin for the first time also have the option to apply for temporary accommodation on the college campus while they look for a long term accommodation.

Jobs and PR for international students in Ireland

International students at Trinity College Dublin can legally work a casual part-time job for upto 20 hours per week which can be increased to 40 hours per week during their college vacations. Under the Third Level Graduate scheme, after completing the postgraduate programme, international students can stay back and work in Ireland for 24 months. One of the The criteria for getting a work permit is that for critical occupations, you should have a minimum salary of  €30,000 or €64,000. Validity of general employment permit is two years after which it can be renewed for another three years. You can apply for Permanent Residency and citizenship after five years of living in Ireland.
